I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. From a very early age, it had been an aspiration of mine to become a medical doctor. Taking care of a person's health in a very real and direct way and developing and maintaining relationships with patients is what attracted me to this profession. To this end, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Honors Physiology, the study of the human body. It wasn't until I wrote the Dental Entrance exam, on the recommendation of my sister, that I even considered dentistry as a career alternative, I was so focused on entrance into medical school. It was the soap carving component of the exam that had me intrigued. Here, I had the opportunity to work with my hands and embellish my artistic side. It was this aspect of dentistry that made me change my mind. It may not always be apparent, but dentistry is a perfect blend of Art and Science. Ensuring that a filling not only replaces tooth structure lost to cavities and decay but also appears seamless on a tooth, matching the varied anatomy to become virtually indistinguishable, is my goal. A smile is one of the first things a person notices about another and can be the basis of our first impression. How important, then, is making sure that the smile is as beautiful as it can be! As a result, I attended the dental program at the University of Western Ontario. From day 1, we were perfecting our skills on mannequins in the simulation lab. It was this immersion in the art of dentistry that cemented my desire to become a dentist.

Following five years of practice in Edmonton as an associate, I decided it was time to spread my wings and open my own practice. I've always wanted to live in the Okanagan Valley, with lakes, mountains and forests, I cannot imagine a more idyllic locale to raise a family. One night, while I was up feeding my daughter at 3 am, I happened upon a Western Living magazine with a special section on Kelowna. It was while reading this article that I became inspired by the potential of Kelowna for my future home. With little to go on, we came down here for a weekend to search for a potential space to build a practice. It wasn't until we saw the last site that we visited that we knew we could build here. From the office,we have a great view of the mountains and the water and a space that is perfect for our needs. It is here that my wife Tammy and I hope to raise our daughter Zoë and son Chase to enjoy the outdoors as much as we do. Our family enjoys volleyball, pickleball, and hiking around the Okanagan.

Hello, I'm Dr. Jesse Baradoy and am one of the dentists here at Aura Dental Clinic. I was born and raised in Calgary Alberta and completed my dental training at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia.

My childhood summers were spent camping and boating in the Okanagan and I always dreamed of making this paradise my home one day. In 2019, I relocated to West Kelowna with my wife, Jen, and our three young boys, Easton, Nolan, and Benson. When I'm not at the office, you will find me enjoying everything the Okanagan has to offer, including mountain biking and skiing.

I enjoy working with patients of all ages and hope to make you feel comfortable and relaxed while in my chair. I look forward to meeting you!

Patients will sometimes ask me why someone would ever choose to be a dentist. Most people cannot fathom a career path that requires intense training and dedication that culminates in the glorified position of working in a tiny operating field, on people that don’t want to be there, fussing about measurements that are smaller than the thickness of a strand of hair.  Dentistry, however, is so much more than that.
Opening in 2011, I started Aura Dental Clinic with a singular vision. My plan was to create a dental environment that would emanate a relaxed and comfortable “Aura” to everyone coming in. Getting dental work completed is typically not considered a fun experience. People coming in for the first time are usually in pain or headed in that direction and looking to avoid it. However, over the years we have been able to cultivate a loyalty from our patients based on the level of personal care we bring to the table. Never can I guarantee an absolutely pain free experience at the dental office, but I have a team behind me that will do everything in our power to make sure that it is as close to this as humanly possible. Short wait times, convenient appointment scheduling, friendly and caring staff, open communication and attention to the dental issues that are most important to you, the patient, are amongst the many things that we work towards to improve your oral health.

The practice of dentistry over the years has evolved my concept of what this work means to me. The Japanese have a term “Ikigai” that denotes a person’s reason for being and purpose. It is the intersection between what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can use to generate value. I may not have been as aware of it early on in my career, but as I progress through life, I realize that this goal of blending science, medicine and art combined with the relationships that I have been able to develop with my patients has become the driving force for me to strive to be better each and every day at what I do. Patients placing their trust in us to care for their oral health is a responsibility I hold very close and the reason we continue to push to be the best dental care provider we can be.
